About the bookThe Things They Carried is fictitious novel of the experiences O'Brien, the author, went through during his time in the Vietnam War. It describes what the soldiers had to carry with them on a daily basis, both physically and emotionally. Things like their gear and weapons along with their guilt and fear. Although based on real events, O'Brien altered these events to more accurately represent what they feel like to live through.

What I Thought (testimony) |
I really enjoyed this book. The style in which it is written captures you and makes you live its words. The style is a masterpiece by itself. O'Brien has written the book to resemble a persons scattered thoughts yet still illustrate a overarching meaning and purpose for the seemingly random excerpts from his past. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys history or who is looking for a unique writting style.
